Looking for Dr. Cober's hernia practice?
Hemorrhoids are very common and are dilated vessels present in the anal canal. When they get too large they can have increased pressure and cause bleeding.
In general when hemorrhoids are small or not very symptomatic, we treat them with avoiding constipation and some perianal creams and ointments such as preparation H (a steroid anti-inflammatory).
If these initial steps do not work long-term or patients have recurrent bleeding, then a hemorrhoid procedure is warranted. There are a variety of treatments available and Dr. Cober has experience with many of them and offers banding, HemWell, Ligasure hemorrhoidectomy, and traditional Ferguson hemorrhoidectomy.
Most often, we can treat hemorrhoids at the same time as colonoscopy to maximize patient convenience and minimize time under anesthesia.
Dr. Cober can treat patients with hemorrhoids in several locations in Vero Beach, Fort Pierce, Port St Lucie, Stuart, Jupiter, Palm Beach Gardens, and Lake Worth. HemWell is only offered in Vero Beach at the Live Oak Endoscopy Center (NPI 1548254402), and this is the only location on the East Coast of Florida offering this technology.
Colon cancer screening over the years has become more aggressive in the United States because unfortunately the incidence of colon cancer is rising. We believe it may be due to dietary and environmental effects. The medical community now recommends initiating colon cancer screening in average-risk patients at the age of 45.
Options for screening including colonoscopy (the gold-standard, as it can remove polyps at the time of procedure), and Cologuard (a non-invasive stool test). Dr. Cober provides both of these options and can tailor your screening based on your situation.
Related to colonoscopies, we also offer upper endoscopies (EGDs).
With respect to Cologuard, this can be prescribed by a patient's primary care provider.
As a hernia specialist (click here for our hernia practice), Dr. Cober is also able to offer outpatient surgeries and procedures at several surgery centers.
As a medical practice that aims for high-quality and excellent patient satisfaction and customer experience, we have developed a network of local providers and health-related businesses. Click here for our online listing.
